Remember a thing called a newspaper? There was always the comics section, but the Sunday paper always had a bigger section, and it was in color!

Some of the musings offered a quick chuckle, others might have required some thought, some items would just go over your head as the target might have been something geared to the adults.

So here is a first offering that might be obvious to most, but may leave others scratching their heads.

Shhh!

If you come across a carbine item that makes you chuckle please post it here.

Anyone with drawing skills? maybe some comics of your own?

As to last Sundays replies, Smoke pole said it best with it must be worth 4x more! Clown

Wayne, Never seen the U.S. marked. Someone had asked me about a oiler with SW on bottom as well as the cap, Guess that one is worth twice as much! LOL

Here is this Sundays submission. It was on an auction site a few months ago. Unfortunately I never checked what someone though it was worth.

Oh yes….the Winchester Iver Johnson type 4 band with the removable nut. The IJ’s I have fooled with have that extra hole on top of the band. Maybe an oil hole?

1948
Jack
Armstrong
The All American Boy
by Bob Schoenke

Jack and Billy, flying in Heli-packs, are looking over a large estate from which they suspect munitions are being smuggled to the Middle East.
Billy: I don't see anything suspicious Jack.
Jack: seems to be just an ordinary... Say, that garage is unusually large

Billy:there's no pier... How could they possibly load a ship from this place?
Jack: It's getting dark, let's get back.

http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/uploads/3657/funniesJack1.jpg

Jack: Hi, Joy! Still Here? We came back for something.
Billy: Some equipment for seeing in the dark.

http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/uploads/3657/funniesJack2.jpg

Billy: We'll be back soon, Joy. Stay right hear in the car.
Joy: Ah wish you all wouldn't be too long, 'cause ah'm gettin' jumpy all alone in these ol' woods.

From 1946 on the Sniperscope ans the Snooperscope was all the rage, as seen here in the comics section.
What type carbine and make?
What model scope?

Seems loose lips, and the "News" sinks ships!
Was there really a "Jet" powered helicopter back then?

What other interesting item was mentioned?

Happy Sunday!

They did experiment with a copter that had small jets on the ends of the rotor blades. They gave up on it rather quickly since it was far noisier that the conventional rotor.

Only one partial answer so it goes to Smokepole for the "Tip jet" or "Ram jet" helicopter.
and yes they could be quite noisy. If anyone is familiar with a pulse jet engine they would know

"'Little Henry': World's First Ram-Jet Helicopter!"

Attributed to Colonel Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller during the Chosin Reservoir campaign in Korea, November 1950. Quoted in Marine! The Life of LtGen Lewis B. (Chesty) Puller, USMC (Ret.)

"We've been looking for the enemy for several days now, we've finally found them. We're surrounded. That simplifies our problem of getting to these people and killing them."

@Ping, unfortunately there is an individual selling refurbish services for stocks and putting farcical stamping on them, similar to what you show.
Problem being they are being touted as original by some.

Speaking of farcical, list the errors, misplacements, inaccuracies, etc.

Snagged that pic off Gunbroker years ago, IRRC, nobody bid on it. Some sellers have absolutely no scruples.
