Went to two shows today, first was a bust; only 2 military carbines and 3 commercials. Second show had 4 commercial copies and no USGI.
But the second show yielded some nice cutlery! $425!
1.Very nice M4 Pal bayonet with very little finish wear (98%) in an M8A1 scabbard
2. Very nice K.I. M4 with about 90% blade finish in a short frog M8 scabbard. (had been sharpened)
3. Nice M3 Trench knife. Straight guard, smooth handle Case in a short frog M8 scabbard 60% blade finish. One side of the handle had some moderate dings.
(None of the leather handles showed any cracks in the leather)
4. Very good condition M4 Camillus bayonet with plastic handles 90% blade finish in a good condition late M8A1 scabbard with a steel tip guard.
All of the scabbards were in very good to excellent condition.

I think I did pretty well for the money. I just don't see many of these things at the shows anymore. The seller looked a bit surprised when I took all 4 blades. Several people had walked away when he told them he wanted over $100 each for the first 3. They just didn't know what they were looking at!

I should add that the two GI carbines that I did see were both arsenal rebuilds, a NPM and an I.B.M.. Both were grossly over priced at $1400 EACH!

Jim,
What's a Gun Show ? Cry
AFAIK Our Gov Hitmer won't allow them.

Closest we have is going by our Capital building and looking at the arms our protesters have brought with them.

Seriously nice score for $425.
Living Free because of those that serve.....

Ohio is a bit more (Please excuse the word) liberal, when it comes to large gatherings. Masks MUST be worn, and it is enforced. Barrels of hand sanitizer are all over the place. In many instances, they have people outside checking your temp before you can enter. Limits are placed on the number of people allowed in at any one time. Everyone is so glad to be able to get out that they comply with the rules. Seems to work. There has been no report of problems with covid spread associated with these events.

Last gun show I did was Dayton 2 weeks ago, 1 USGI Inland that gauged 2.5 on my CMP gauge and the guy wanted $1400 for and a couple of the HiPoint made Inlands same price.

I live 10 minutes from the Sharonville (Cincinnati) and ain't seen a Carbine, either GI or Commercial there in a year.

Don, you need to join OGCA. The meets are in Wilmington. There are usually a good number of carbines there.

You used to need 2 sponsors, but they changed the rules recently. Let me look into it. I think it is only 1 now. I do plan on going the next meet. If the weather hold good and I don't have problems from the second covid shot, I could meet you there and get the process started. I'll PM you about this.

Danke,

I'll have to see when they meet, I work 2nd shift and IIRR between that and 2 sponsors is what kept me from joining years ago.

I do remember the Carbines and Hi Powers from when my friend took me as a guest years ago, of course I was broke that month Cry

Next meeting for OGCA is March 13 & 14.  March is usually the largest show.
Guest are strictly limited to two visits per life...yes, they want you to join.  A guest pass is $15, which you would have to have to get in the door to apply then for membership, which is $45 a year I believe.    You only need one sponsor if you are a CCW/FFL/C&R holder.

I understand the gun fund situation. After buying those bayonets and the trench knife, I'm gonna have to dig deep or break the piggy bank myself. But I'm going to go anyway and hope I have enough left over to buy gas to get  home and maybe a burger too.

I should have money now unless something comes up, I lost a bid on GB by $125 on a James River Armory M-1 Carbine tonight. Price it went for I should be able to find a decent USGI and move my 1 USGI Inland to "shooter" status

Not sure you are aware......Michigan has had gun shows since Mid January. Grand Rapids and Houghton lake are just two I went to. One in Redford Feb. 20th and 21st.

Here in Minnesota I went to my first show in about a year.  Smallish suburban show that was Very well attended.  All vendor spaces were sold out weeks before the show.  2 carbines, both mixmaster rebuilds.  One in very rough shape, aftermarket stock, lots of rust, $1400.00.  The other a mixmaster in better shape, 6 digit Inland, replacement stock, etc., $1600.00.  Neither one sold by the end of the show, and the seller was not interested in entertaining offers.
