hello all, I'm new to the forum and had a question about my m8 launcher. Mine is made by reliance machine and tool and came wrapped in green oil cloth like a lot of New old stock parts do. My worry is it came from a seller who seem to have around six or seven of them. I guess my question would be do the Ravenna armory reproductions come wrapped in such cloth when new? How close of a reproduction is the Ravenna armory version versus a real usgi example? Did they nail it to the exact or are there differences because I tend to see a lot of people post that the Ravenna armory repros are excellent examples which is the cause for my worry ha ha.I guess anyone could take a reproduction and wrap it in oil cloth but this cloth seems to match the New old stock cloth on my m7 launcher perfectly so I was convinced at the time it was real. Now that I have learned about all these Ravenna armory reproductions, especially since they chose the reliance manufacturer to copy, it has caused me to question my example . Thanks in advance for your time.(I forgot to mention I have owned this m8 example for about 5 or 6 years)

I have one of the Ravenna reproductions. I got it straight from them, it came in a plastic bag. Anyone could wrap one in grease paper of course. Marking should be obvious. Ravennas markings look good, but very crisp/fine lettering that makes it look different than an original which typically have stamped markings that have softer edges.

thank you so much! I was hoping someone would respond that bought one directly from them. Also thank you for the explanation on the stamping.I have never had it out of the wrapping it's in, I only peeled back enough to make sure that it had the R inside a star and stamped m8 . I paid $350 for it if I remember correctly back then

Here is an original Reliance of mine to compare with: http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/reliance-machine-tool-m8_topic5101.html . I thought I read that the Ravenna Armory ones had a slightly different stamping so it could be distinguished as a repo. There was a post from the owner on a forum board which discussed it but I can't find it anymore. I'd run across it looking for info on mine.
