The other day I was picking up my new carbine that I had shipped to my local gun store. While I was processing out, an older gentleman looked at the magazine and said, "So that's what I have!"
We struck up a nice conversation and he went on to tell me he had found a box of magazines and some loose ammo in a crawl space of a house he was restoring many years ago. I asking if he had an interest in selling the magazines and he indicated that he had no use for them. We exchanged numbers and we planned a meeting for today. After looking at the magazines I asked what price he wanted from them. He replied, "Nothing, you can have them." I told him I could not do that, but he insisted. I told him that it would be unethical for me to just take them because they had value. Finally, I offered to pay for his lunch and he agreed. The ammo was head stamped WWII and Korea era. Thanks to my new friend and good people. |

I agree. I will be picking up the lunch tab for a while. Nice gentleman, it is well worth the company. |

Too cool... what a guy!
I thought I was lucky this week when I stopped in to an antique store while working in the Po-dunk town of Wallace, ID. There just so happened to be a shelf with a number of Tupperware containers, each labeled with various firearm models followed by the word "Magazines". A label reading "M1 Magazines" immediately caught my eye, and -lo and behold- inside was a lone UN-coded magazine. Yours truly owns two National Postal Meters. I felt incredibly fortunate at the time, but you, man... you're fortunate. There's a lot of pain and suffering in the world, and sometimes people just plain suck; stories like this give you some inkling of hope for humanity though. |
