Hello all. Just bought an early Winchester springtube, with the early type 1 receiver with the tabbed springtube setup. I am having a bit of trouble removing the slide, yes tube is removed. Using the slot where the tab is, but it feels as though I am going to have to be rough drawing the slide out, do not want to bend anything. I have never had this sort of issue, taken apart alot of carbines!. Rifle does appear to not have much wear, except the finish.

Make sure the slide tab at the rear of the bolt is out of the slot and off the bolt before you try to remove the slide. Then line up the tabs on the box of the slide with the slots on the slide grooves then twist downward on the left side. It should come clear without a lot of force. Sometimes it takes having the alignment "just right". I have one slide like that on an NPM.

Got it off, held my mouth just right! Did not have to use much force, bolt was very dirty, main reason for wanting to take it apart.
