Morning,
I just joined this site to learn more about a U.S Carbine 30M I'm a little concerned about the way it was represented when I bought it. I found the following marking on it:::::::::::: U.S. Carbine Plainfield Machine Dunellen NJ Serial Number 42099345 Can another assist me with what I have purchased??? Thanks ahead of time. KB

That is probably the best grade of commercial carbine that you could have found. I doubt that you will have any real problems with it. Click on the header and it will take you to a great site on carbines for technical info. There is a separate section on commercial carbines including your Plainfield. Look over that info and afterwards, if you still have questions, come back and ask. You will be much better informed when you do.
