I just wanted to share with everyone that I called What A Country today to see what kind of carbine stocks they had available.  The gentleman asked me if I had an iPhone and if I could FaceTime him on his personal cell phone.   I called his cell and he walked me around the shop asking me what type of stock I was looking for, I told him P-U, M-U or LW-U.  He showed me several stocks and handguards in each maker, each in very nice shape and with some nice cartouches.  I ended up taking a very nice thick low wood M-U with a close to matching M-U handguard for $240 out the door, shipped.  I will post photos when they arrive.  I’ve never had a company willing to video call me to show me their products and tell me if it doesn’t arrive as expected they will replace it with another of my choosing.  Give www.whatacountry.com a peek and you may be as surprised as I am.   I purchased an NPM stock from them last year but it was one directly from their site and it was as advertised as well.

Good to hear, looking forward to seeing pictures of the stock when you get it. I have always had good experiences when dealing with them.

Awesome, have only had good experiences with them also. Got a nice type 3 Winchester stock to replace one some idiot put a fake stamp on, which was a real nice winchester stock :(. dang thing looks amazing. you will be very pleased. When I ordered mine, he did the same thing (facetime). He then called me back about 5 minutes later, and said he found a crack in it that we had not seen when facetiming, and said "I find you  better one, I will charge you same price" and showed it to me. Handguard looks like it was made for it also. When I got it, i was blown away at how good of condition it was. A little dirty, but cleaned up great. No huge dings.

Awesome good deal and service ! I have bought several items over the years from them, always a good transaction. Story time: My Uncle was a Marine BAR gunner in Korean war, about 10 years ago I built a very large shadow box for him that included a full size, highly detailed resin BAR , I acquired an original BAR Mag belt and needed original mags. I called WhatACountry.... told them my story...dont remember who I talked to but... just good folk, this guy looked around and found all magazines needed that had blemishes or small dents that basically might have rendered them unusable... he sold them all to me for 5 bucks each, but they were great mags to load in the belt, even with ammo and leave the mag flap open to display. Uncle Very Pleased. Cheers, JB

I’ll call him tomorrow to add a few to my order.  When it comes in I’ll message you and we can settle up for the $20 and shipping.  MRD?

I wish I knew how to say his name but he is an outstanding man. Good work ethics very fair on prices. I just got a SG stock from him and he had two of them that were in good condition he said but the markings weren't strong. He said I'm going to send you both of them and then with the return label look at them and then send back the one that you don't want well both of them came in and they were perfect except for the one stock that was the nicest had a real long crack up at the by the slide where they always crack at. Which was a shame because it had no rebuilt marks or nothing it was fantastic. Anyway I suggest if you need anything from this gentleman talk with him and he'll treat you so fair it's unbelievable I can't say enough about him. Again I just wish I knew how to say his name I think he's from Georgia or lutherania. Again guys I apologize for my poor grammar and spelling ability please don't bomb me been living with it all my life and I hate when some smart-ass it's the give me a teaching lesson.

You must be talking about Yashi. I kind of like him, too. While figuring out an order for me one time, I got worried he might get in trouble with the boss for spending so much time with me, answering questions etc. Then I found out he is the BOSS! He told me that he's from Georgia - not the one that's in our political news here everyday, though. - Bob

I like having WWII era slings for my carbines but also slings and stock metal for my loose stock sets.
I've made a number of bulk buys of C tip slings for myself and a couple smaller buys with JimF4M1s.
So about every 6-8 weeks I get a phone call from Yashi pushing more slings at me or asking what I need. If it's on the answering machine and you can't understand it (Wife thinks Spammer) it's Yashi.
Buying bulk saved some money, but I'm:
A: Overstocked on slings.... but
B: Still willing to buy but working him to drop the current $99.95 per sling price tag.
I started buying @ ~$39.95 each, then Ebay sling prices went nuts and WAC started raising the prices by about ~$20.00+ increments.

I will add you can deal with him, so contact him directly vs the web site and get by the limit of 2 per slings per customer. Or anything else, he'll deal.

Years ago I'd made a bulk purchase of stocks and handguards. I sold / swapped a little over 300 handguards to (I call him Yoshi) for some misc gear. I get embarrassed, he gets tickled about me having to have him repeat what he's saying. Heavy... fast paced accent. He say's I can't hear and sound "Like Country Boy"

Question
Has anyone ever tried one of WAC's M1 parts kits, comes minus receiver? $549.95 with junk stock.

Charlie, I think I remember reading long ago on one of the forums that Roger M (6-ring, Bubba-7) bought some of those parts kits, can't remember what he had said about them.

Re: WAC carbine parts kits... rough from every account I have seen so far.
Yasha is a good guy and I have bought a bunch of stuff from him in the past. He does like to deal and even gave me a quick video tour of the warehouse.

Bought a stock from him 4-5 years ago, had a small easily repaired crack on the right side.  Think it was $59.  Glad I got it when I did, because as we all know, prices went through the roof shortly thereafter.
