I have my first Carbine on the way.. It's a 1944 Inland said to have all correct parts except for the barrel band and an IBM operating rod.. There was a long list of parts in the G-B add but didn't notice there is no magazine included. I want a WW2 GI Magazine marked right to go with the gun and ask for suggestions please .. My next question is do any of the new after market magazines work good or better or are they junk? Thanks for your help..

zenfly, welcome to the forum. As far as magazines go I recommend that you stick with USGI mags. They are not that expensive and you can usually find them for sale all over the internet, not sure if he currently has any listed but check seller 81mm on GB, he usually has some for sale. I do not know first hand but I have heard the aftermarket mags are junk.

USGI are the best as already said. 15 rounders are more reliable then 30 rounders which also require the type IV (M2) magazine catch.
I have a number of the Korean made 15 and 30 round magazines. They work just fine though lighter in weight then a GI magazine. Centerfire sells both the 15 and 30 round Korean made magazines as do other vendors https://www.centerfiresystems.com/p-2946-m1-30-carbine-30rd-steel-korean-mag.aspx https://www.centerfiresystems.com/p-2945-m1-30-carbine-15rd-steel-korean-mag.aspx I would advise to stay away from all other commercial made magazines. |

Agree about 81mm,
Pretty hard to beat Eddy Yuja. I see he currently has some Inland mags on GB: |

OP, as a new owner I had the same question. Those recommended sellers/sources of mags and such are appreciated. Thanks for the responses.

I have had a few USGI Magazines that were banged up over the years, that would not feed, and a few aftermarket ones that had problems. I have purchased several of the Korean ones, in both 15 and 30 round, and they all fit and feed perfectly. Any Carbine owner should have a few USGI Magazines to go with their Carbine. The Korean ones work perfectly for range use, or as I have them, part of my SHTF Gear.
Here are a few of the reliable sellers of the Korean ones. |

Great confirming report on those Korean mags. I saw them at a local gun show, but passed on them as I am a new owner and wasn't familiar with their functionality. I might just grab a few next time I see them. If I don't see any, then I will get a few from one of the links you so graciously provided for us. Thank you. |

Click that centerfiresystems link above. They're $9.99 there where they were $21 at the gun show here last week. I'll bet he bought them for $9.99 @cfs

I use both the Korean 15-rnd and 30-rnd mage on my WW2 Inland carbines, and have not experienced any problems whatever. I think they're fine.

Zenfly, I just ordered 4 of those Korean 15rd mags. $9.99 is a decent price, even with $9.00 shipping and the $1.50 they charged me for using a credit card for payment. I hope they have the hold open type follower.

I got my order for four of those Korean mags in the mail today. I just wanted to say that they look well made. I did take them apart to polish the follower's 'legs' and 'feet'. They did not have sharp edges/burrs like the other commercial mags. But since they are inexpensive mags and had them apart, I chose to do my tuning work on them and did make them even smoother functioning. I am pleased thus far. But, the proof is in the range experience.
I also wanted to note that the one's I received did NOT have hold open designed follower that I had hoped for. The bar code number on the package was 8 809257 220030 in case you see these in the wrapper and want to know which design follower is inside. |

A little follower up here. I just bought magazines that came in the same package, with the same number on it, and at least the first one has a hold open follower. I was actually prefering non-hold open figuring it would be a little less hard on the bolt. Go figure. The magazine has a large sans-serif U on the back and a hole in the foot plate. New Korean U laying on top of 1940s OI-S'G' New Korean base plate |

Hey look what I found! Another clue in figuring out manufacturing and label mysteries. Same packaging but with a "PW" glued on them. Also notice the bar code; first part is the same as Donnie & I pictured above, second part is different. This is from an older ad I stumbled across (https://www.joesalter.com/category/products/Modern-M1-Carbine-Carry-Case-NIB-Magazines-Bandoleer-Kit-Pouch) |
