So I got this; others may have seen it listed. What's the consensus; To Open or Not to Open?
Considering opening carefully and saving the packaging but on the fence.

G163 appears from some reading/digging to indicate possible usage by crews of the  M18 Hellcat Tank Destroyer.

RRA = Red River Arsenal

Every time I end up with an item in original packing, I always say that I am not going to open it, I then usually end up opening it, I have no self control!

Yep, same here I am afraid; Opened a brick of 10 J.L Clark Mfg. Co. IBM mags and an IBM operating spring guide rod, not long ago.

Yeah; who made the canvas case and what date is on it? Right?
I mean maybe someone at RRA dropped an IP dogleg in there or a treasure map? LOL

To Open or Not to Open?

Keep it close and find one which is not wrapped so you got both to display!

If you can please post pictures of the JLClark magazines.  I started my graphics career at JL Clark fight after Viet Nam, it used to be the old Liberty Can Company, 303 North Plum Street Lancaster PA. They're still there.

nice find on manual--they are a heavier built case tighter fitting as well-canvas seems thicker-is no date or makers name on it--just part number

Thanks for the additional info @welbytwo; made to take a beating I assume.

Suspect the production numbers on these cases, were much lower than others due to their specific use case. <-- see what I did there

A loose one would look nice displayed next to the packaged one, as @PLN-TAP-7 suggested.
Donations for man cave displays are accepted @Marcus. Big smile

"Donations for man cave displays are accepted @Marcus"

Are those that expensive?
(Well, I guess I should know the answer as everything seems expensive!)

Open it! The packaging looks like it could be opened without causing it any damage.

Yes I think it could be opened with little or no damage but I have decided not to open the case.
@welbytwo was very informative as to what I would find inside and coupled with the reference I found in TM-9755; we know what it is.

There might just be one in this photo to the left of the GI holding the carbine a top this M18.
Also note the carbine leaning against the wall.

An M18 from the 603d Tank Destroyer Battalion, Combat Command B, 6th Armored Division, guards an intersection in Luneville, France, 22 September 1944. (National Archives)

For those of you that visit/use FB; there is an RRAD page with many interesting photos.
