Sandy, the barrel swap would have been after it
left the CMP, but that brings up another point, The CMP checks and
grades the carbines they sell. If a rack grade then I would expect the
barrel that was on it (Rockola) to have been in good shape. |

If I remember correctly CMP charges like 25 or 35 bucks to do a serial check, which in this case is undeniable heritage. I seriously doubt knowing what grade it is matters since it's played with to the degree it has. Undoubtedly, someone would buy it given what it is, but many of the buyers over there want a weapon as it came from the CMP and will pay insane monies to get such an item.

Looks like they did a nice enough job removing the Bavarian markings. I wouldn’t be sweating it.
Did you open up the case of IBM mags yet??

Don’t break the seal. They are much cooler as a complete box in my opinion.

Opening the box does no harm and helps advance club knowledge. Also how do you know that box isn’t just filled with blocks of wood? Better open it up and verify.

Yeah, don't open that box unless you simply can't resist the urge. I can give a few examples of things that should remain sealed, but who wants to hear that.

Of course I'm no expert but I'm in the club of people that prefer to leave things sealed haha. I'm OCD and once that seal is broken, it can't go back haha.

Here is the decision on the Box of Magazines.... OH yea when I said Premium I meant it. I paid $60.00
per Magazine; you can do the math. Sandy |

I believe you made the correct choice, you have the ultimate Mac Daddy of all collectibles in your closet in my opinion haha. I would even make sure to put that case inside a slightly bigger box to protect it's outside from getting possibly damaged from things being moved around it and I would stuff in the space between as many of those little silicone packs as I could find. I think the same way you do haha, it's made it this far without being opened, I couldn't bear to be the one who changed that. Especially since there's plenty of other magazines to use out there. Very nice score!

Everyone should note that he has a carbine in every corner. Needing that many magazines (1 already in the carbine and 2 spares for the “Stock” Pouch’s), means if he had the box of 100 they would all get used up and the only thing he would have to look at would be an empty box.
Too Freaking Funny He would be V/r Sandy

The below
pertains to my recent purchase of my “First Block” Irwin-Petersen.
I have
looked through all the books I have and all the posts on several board for
markings that would be on the Old "Push Safety" and can't find
anything. I have not been
able to find any information on who would have made it and what rifle
manufacturer it would have been made for.
I haven’t even seen anyone post a picture of one marked like this. It appears to have plenty
of age and usage on it but that means nothing, as many fakes can and do appear
to have age and ware purposely built into them. I “Assume” (yes, I know
what the acronym means), that it was something developed very early on so the
soldiers would or could; tell, feel, know the difference between the Safety and
the Magazine Release. Has anyone seen or know
anything about a safety that is marked like this? The safety has a “Raised” outer ring, a
depressed middle ring, another raised ring close to the center, and a “Raised”
nipple dead center. As the safety was a solid piece of steel, it had to have been stamped into it. The below picture was
taken at the Gun Show and the Safety was obliviously put in backwards for the
user to feel the markings. I have since
reversed to the "Right Side" and you can definitely be feel the difference between safety and magazine
release. As always Very respectfully, Da1Chief Sandy to my Friends
