Early Underwood gas piston

   Checked my Underwood ser.# 1403xxx gas piston today found the piston was stuck and nut loose. Removed nut and did the add oil and let it sit awhile. Finally was able to move it back and forth till it came out. I find I have a piston that is tapered and concaved on the bottom. In the books I have show nothing about this piston but do list an early nut. What do I have????  And if for some reason I would have to replace this piston, can I use a late piston???    Gene

	May be an attempt to help extraction. Would need better pictures. Seems i cannot zoom in on photobucket on mobile device. Interesting if from factory. Will see if i can upload pics of early piston this weekend If you use late piston use late nut for best operation. This was an improvement in operation.
