Two of us are very actively researching the infrared scopes and equipment used with the .30 caliber carbines during and after WWII. There hasn't been much posted about it as we've been focused on the research. This is no small project. The ultimate goal is a series of web pages documenting this history to a degree never done before.
We need your help. If you own a "Sniperscope, Infrared, Set No. 1, 20,000 volts" or any parts thereof if you'd take time to fill out and submit the survey at the link below it will help us reconstruct parts of this history. There are a number of options for submitting the data to make it easier for you. Instructions and details are available at the link. I won't take up your time by repeating them here. http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/M3IRsurvey.html If you've already submitted photos we've entered the answers for you. No need to do it again. This is the first of two surveys that will eventually be available online. Next up will be one survey for the T120/M1, early M2's and late M2's. Under construction. If you'd rather just send us pictures and let us enter the data we'll be grateful for whatever assistance we can get. You can e-mail them to us at survey@USCarbineCal30.com. Here's an example of some of the things we've been finding, in the form of a question: Why was the model T120/M1 (Sniperscope & Snooperscope) replaced by the Model M2 Sniperscope? Jim |
