The ECS steel cased ammo was made by Chrysler in Evansville, Indiana. There was a book written about it, titled "Bullets by the Billion," which I have in my collection.

I just looked through my .45 ammo collection, and I have some of the ECS steel cased ammo, and I have a box of 1942 dated Remington brass cased, but I don't have steel cased Remington from 1944.

What information is being sought? I might have other resources to review. I also recommend the IAA Forum. (International Ammunition Association) It never ceases to amaze me how much of a depth of ammunition knowledge exists among its members.

I found a R A 43  headstamp on steel case that was zinc plated. The next question would be how many of the steel cases were made per year in that time frame.

I had a look at the few steel cases .45ACP I have:
No Remington at all but :
E C 42
E C  42 (one being brass plated)
E C 43
E C S 43
E C 4 (small markings)
E C 4 (larger markings)

All must come from resistance so have been airdropped.

I did not check out my brass one but as far as I remember I have Remington among others.
