I have a Winchester M1 carbine in the 6,528,000 range. The receiver has a drilled through recoil spring hole with a bushing. Is this normal for a late build? On the carbine club data sheet, there are 3 types mentioned (receiver 7) without any other comments. I haven't been able to find any information about this. Thanks for any help.

I think Winchester did use a insert to narrow the spring tube hole. Not sure where I read that though.

Winchester integral receivers were deep drilled the way you describe, complete with bushing. I haven't filled out a data sheet in years now so the other part someone else can help you with. Late Winchester carbines are one of my favs.
