The Cody Firearms Museum has two Winchester T3 carbines. Both are on display in the museum.

Winchester T3 Carbine - no serial number - appears to be one of two prototypes submitted to Ordnance by Winchester in April 1945 for approval of their T3 design.

Winchester T3 Carbine - s/n 02409 - processed thru Winchester's finishing shop on 08 Aug 1945

What they don't have is an M1 Sniperscope or early M2 Sniperscope to mount on one of their T3's for their display. An early M2 Sniperscope is shown below on an Inland T3 carbine.

The past 18 months or so several of us have been working on providing the Cody Firearms Museum with an early M2 Sniperscope set for their display. It will be donated in the name of The Carbine Collector's Club in support of Cody's efforts to preserve the history of the .30 cal. carbines. All is being provided/funded by several members personally.

One member donated an early M2 scope, power cable, and power supply. Another purchased an early M2 battery, light assembly, and several other pieces that were needed. A third member has been working on restoring these items to "as issued" condition, without modifying anything.

We have found with prior donations the management of the Cody Buffalo Bill museums understandably does not want to accept parts piecemeal. So the early M2 Sniperscope set needs to be complete before we can donate it.

The project is almost complete but for two items we have been unable to locate and could use your help with.

The first is an M2 Sniperscope light mount that attaches underneath the T3 carbine stock.

The second is an original T3 stock.

Cody's Winchester T3 carbine stocks do not have the holes drilled for attaching the light mount or the cable support plate. Understandably, they do not want the holes drilled in their T3 stocks.

The member who donated the scope has also donated an existing replica T3 stock for use as a prop. Due to the manner in which it was constructed we're not certain it can be made to look like an original. The cost to have a better one made new is prohibitive.

We realize these two items are rare and hard to come by with more than a few collectors looking to acquire their own.

Given these items are not for any one individual but for the history on permanent display at the Cody Firearms Museum we're hoping someone with an extra wouldn't mind parting with it. Or members will keep their eyes and ears open and let us know if they come across one. A no strings attached donation would be helpful but we are prepared to purchase the items for a reasonable cost.

Thanks much

The Club
