Several of us have decided reconstructing the history of infrared scopes and equipment used with the U.S. .30 caliber carbines is long overdue. While we announced the research months ago the forum and website has seen only a little as we've been doing the research when time permits. For one of us, a retiree, this is almost full time.

We have prepared a series of short articles that will begin to appear on the Newsworthy thread of this forum site. We will try to announce these here in this announcement as they become available.

Work is currently under way constructing the web page for the Model T3 Carbine and Model M3 Carbine. Each scope model will have it's own web pages with it's history and detailed information.

We have two brief surveys for owners who don't mind sharing information. Each survey has it's own web page which includes a link to download a hard copy of the survey. The hard copy is handy for filling in the info while examining the equipment. It can then be entered on the web page, scanned and e-mail to us, or mailed to us.

Even if we can only obtain the info from the name plates it helps reconstruct what was done and when.

We can be contacted by posting a message on this forum, by pm or by e-mail at: survey at USCarbinecal30 dot com.

We've located a number of records with information we're fairly certain no one has seen before. The nature of the documents are such that had it been found they likely would have made it known. It will correct, clarify and add to previous published information. Some of the data will appear in the short articles. Most will be made available on the web pages.

We are working on sorting through data from the National Archives, have gathered some data from the Library of Congress and are working with several historians with the Corps of Engineers when they have the time.

Meaning we're serious about pulling together as much as we can to reconstruct this history. Then sharing it with everyone via the forum and website.

Any help or info would be very much appreciated.

Jim & Dan
