Ha! I was just looking something up and CCNL 222 shows an H&R Reising Model 60 (full stock) with more info in CCNL 225 It is interesting how from a distance it looks like the M1 carbine

A good friend, who is also a carbine collector, bought a Reising M50 this past year. He had a Thompson M1A1 that he inherited from his dad and wanted a Reising to go along with it. We went out and shot them both a couple weeks ago, after collectively saving up .45 ammo for several months. Amazing fun to shoot original WWII SMGs. I don’t think he’ll be shooting the Thompson again anytime soon, as it is just worth too much money. It’s in pristine all original condition. The last time it was shot was in the 1980s. Once we save up some more .45 for a few months, probably go shoot the Reising again. I definitely favored the Thompson over the Reising, just like the Marines did. They got rid of them pretty quickly after Guadalcanal. They jammed too much in the jungle environments and the parts were not 100% interchangeable, like they were supposed to be. They also only had 12 and 20 round magazines, if I’m not mistaken. They were adopted as a quick substitute when Thompson’s were in short supply in the early war years. ------------- Chad USN Retired |

| Sounds like a fun range day! Few years ago in Vegas I got to shoot a Thompson and it was awesome. Almost as fun as the M249 :) Now it's probably 3x the cost with the ammo... |

Yes! It’s amazing how much ammo you zing through shooting full-auto weapons. We went through 800 rounds, taking our time, in a little over an hour. More time was spent loading 20 and 30 round magazines than actually shooting. We brought a big tarp for all the brass to spray into for easier collection and saving for reloading. ------------- Chad USN Retired |
